U.S. Economics Editor for The Economist to Speak at Carleton About the Future of America’s Economic Model

Carleton alumnus Greg Ip, U.S. economics editor for The Economist, will deliver the 12th annual Kesterton Lecture at Carleton University. Entitled American Exceptionalism Revisited: The Financial Crisis and the Future of America’s Economic Model, the lecture will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 9 in 101 Arieli Theatre. It is free and open to the public.

Based in Washington D.C., Ip covers the economy, financial markets, and monetary, fiscal and regulatory policy.

After graduating from Carleton in 1989, Ip joined the Vancouver Sun and then worked at the Financial Post, Globe and Mail and Wall Street Journal. He is author of The Little Book of Economics: How the Economy Works in the Real World.  He is also winner or co-winner of several significant awards, including the Malcolm Forbes Award from the Overseas Press Club, the William Brewster Styles Award from the Scripps Howard Foundation and the 2002 Pulitzer Prize for breaking news for articles published on September 12, 2001, in the Journal. He and a colleague wrote Attacks Raise Fears of a Recession, one of the articles included in the prize-winning package.
